Pima Cotton is a fine, strong, and silky-smooth fiber of cotton that originated in Egypt and was then cultivated into an even stronger and finer fiber, by the US Department of Agriculture in the town of Sacaton, Arizona. There, it was named Pima in honor of the Pima Indians, who helped grow the plants on the USDA farm. It was then taken to Peru, in the early 1900's, which has the ideal climate for the Pima seed. Since then, it has been groomed into the highest quality and most gaurded cotton in the world.
